Afek Tounes (آفاق تونس - Tunisia's Horizons) was established on 28 March 2011
by Mohamed Louzir, as a "liberal social party". The party was a founding member
of Al Joumhouri (Republican party), established in April 2012, from which it
withdrew in August 2013 to create the "new" Afek Tounes.
The party
obtained 76,488 votes (1.9%; 8th most voted party) in the 2011 general election,
securing 4 seats (out of 217) in the new Constituent Assembly. It obtained
102,916 votes (3.0%; 5th most voted party) in 2014, securing 8 seats in the
Assembly of the People's Representatives. The party signed in 2018 the Carthage
Agreement that led to the establishment of the Government of National Union;
Afek Tounes withdrew in January 2018 from the Carthage Agreement.
In the 2014
and 2019 presidential elections, Afek Tounes supported the candidate
representing Nidaa Tounes.

The logo of Afek Tounes, inaugurated in August 2013, is based on the
hamsa, aka the Hand of Fatima, a traditional symbol that repels curses and chase
the evil eye.
